iGaming Glossary

This iGaming glossary is a reference of 60 terms that operators, platform buyers and compliance teams use daily — defined in plain English, from a B2B perspective. Every entry opens with a one-sentence definition, adds the operational context that matters when you run or launch a gambling brand, and closes with why the term affects your P&L, your licence or your roadmap.

How the glossary is organized

The terms fall into six working clusters:

• Commercial metrics — GGR, NGR, ARPU, ARPPU, LTV, churn rate, retention rate: the numbers a board reads first.
• Platform and product — PAM, game aggregator, sportsbook, back office, turnkey and white label: the architecture behind every brand.
• Compliance and player protection — KYC, AML, responsible gambling, and the national self-exclusion registers (GAMSTOP, OASIS, Spelpaus, CRUKS, ROFUS) that regulated operators must integrate.
• Licensing and certification — MGA, UKGC, Curaçao, GLI-19, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR.
• Acquisition and payments — affiliate deal structures (revenue share, CPA, hybrid), PSPs, chargebacks, open banking, PIX.
• Betting and casino mechanics — RTP, RNG, wagering requirements, in-play betting, bet builders, progressive jackpots.
